{"id":1660,"date":"2019-03-07T10:35:54","date_gmt":"2019-03-07T16:35:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/illinoistax.org\/?p=1660"},"modified":"2023-02-03T13:23:27","modified_gmt":"2023-02-03T19:23:27","slug":"local-government-units","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/illinoistax.org\/?p=1660","title":{"rendered":"Local Government Units"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Policy Statement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Local Government Units<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Illinois has more units of local government than any other state in the nation. \u00a0When the functions of government are so widely dispersed, it is difficult for our citizens to know who they should hold accountable for their local services and the associated tax burden.
